Watertown Nears Completion of Major ARPA-Funded Water Main Projects

Watertown is concluding its $22 million water main improvement initiative, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. The final two projects, involving the replacement of water lines on Winslow and Ohio Streets, are currently underway. Six out of the eight planned projects have already been completed, adding a total of 3.8 miles of new steel piping to the city's infrastructure.

Watertown Drug Bust: Fentanyl and Cocaine Seized, Two Arrested

Police arrested two men at a Watertown apartment where 430 doses of fentanyl and half an ounce of cocaine were seized. Anthony R. Graves, 37, faces multiple drug charges and is being held without bail.

Sackets Harbor Resident Sentenced for Government Contract Fraud

Sean O’Sullivan, a former contractor from Sackets Harbor, was sentenced for conspiring to defraud the U.S. government. He was ordered to pay $345,271 in restitution and will serve two years of probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges related to government contracts.

State Audit Exposes Financial Mismanagement at Central NY Regional Market

An audit by the state Comptroller's office found the Central New York Regional Market Authority facing significant financial challenges, with declining net positions and a potential shortfall in revenues. The audit criticized the board's financial management and recommended immediate measures to address these issues. The authority is now working on a corrective action plan to improve its financial situation.

Spartans Sweep Frontier League Track & Field Titles

The South Jefferson boys' and girls' track and field teams won the Frontier League championships, with the boys narrowly beating Watertown and the girls defeating Beaver River. Kennady Billman contributed to four victories, including three individual wins. Coach Justin Crossway praised the collective effort of the team.
