Watertown's Golf Course Clubhouse May Have a New Operator: A Veteran of the Local Dining Scene

Watertown's Thompson Park Golf Course clubhouse might soon see a new operator in David Marconi, a local with 10 years in the restaurant industry. Marconi, who submitted the sole proposal for the concession operation, plans to cater to both golfers and park visitors with a menu of subs, burgers, salads, and more. He has offered the city $6 to run the clubhouse for the upcoming season, planning to operate daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a team of about 10 to 12 staff. The city will review his proposal ahead of a City Council decision on February 20.

Skiing and Snowboarding Now on the Curriculum at Watertown City Schools

The Watertown City School District, in partnership with Dry Hill Ski Area, has launched a ski club for students, offering a cost-effective way to learn skiing or snowboarding. The club, catering to students aged 7 to 18, was initiated by a parent's suggestion and aims to become an official sport. Currently, around 20 students participate, with sessions held three times a week. The program encourages family participation and seeks to instill a love for winter sports among the youth.

Historic Warmth to Hit Western New York, Threatening Century-Old Record

Western New York (WNY) is on the brink of experiencing an unusual spell of warm weather, poised to commence tomorrow and continue through the latter part of the week. The temperature is expected to climb into the 50s on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, presenting a stark contrast to typical weather patterns for this time of year. Notably, Saturday stands out as a day when historical records could be shattered. The current record, which has stood unchallenged for 143 years, might finally be surpassed, marking a significant meteorological event for the region.

Wetherspoons App Turns Into National Platform for Random Acts of Kindness

"Wetherspoons: The Game" is a heartwarming trend sweeping the UK, where people send drinks to strangers via the JD Wetherspoons app, inspired by the act of kindness concept from Italy. The game began when Chris Illman discovered he could order drinks for anyone in the country using the app's manual location feature. A Facebook group initially intended for friends blew up to 500,000 members, facilitating the exchange of drinks based on compassionate and friendly posts. Volunteer moderators ensure only the most earnest requests are fulfilled, fostering a community built on generosity and goodwill.
