Governor Hochul Unveils $14.7 Million Plan to Boost Food Supply Chain

Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $14.7 million funding initiative to strengthen New York's food supply chain. The Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program, in partnership with the USDA, will support farmers and food businesses in modernizing facilities and expanding capacity. The Farm and Food Growth Fund and the state Department of Agriculture and Markets will administer the funds, with technical assistance from the Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust and market analysis from Cornell University.

Watertown Teen Powerlifter Shines at Nationals

A 16-year-old girl from Watertown, New York, is gaining national attention in the world of powerlifting. Anne Tyler, following in the footsteps of her older brother John, has become an award-winning weightlifter. John Tyler previously earned three national titles and placed third at the world championships.

Anne recently competed at the high school nationals in New Orleans. She showcased her impressive strength by squatting 355 pounds, bench pressing 154 pounds, and deadlifting 436 pounds, achieving a total lift of 948 pounds. Anne's remarkable performance is earning her recognition and solidifying her place in the sport.
