Watertown Weather: Warm Early Week, Sunny Weekend Ahead

Watertown, New York, will experience warm weather early in the week, with highs near 80 on Monday and low 80s on Tuesday. There's a 40% chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday and a 40% chance of morning rain on Thursday. The weather will cool down to the mid-60s on Friday, with mostly sunny skies over the weekend.

430 Doses of Fentanyl Found in Watertown Apartment Raid

The Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force arrested two men in Watertown following a search warrant executed at an apartment on Coffeen Street. The search, conducted on Thursday, took place at the upper apartment of 327 Coffeen St.

Upon entering the residence, investigators found a man, a woman, and a child present. During the search, authorities discovered 430 individual doses of fentanyl and approximately half an ounce of cocaine. Additionally, digital scales and various drug paraphernalia were seized.

The two men were taken into custody, facing multiple charges related to drug possession and distribution. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released by the authorities.

Governor Hochul Announces $14.7 Million Boost for New York's Food Supply Chain

New York, in partnership with the USDA, has announced $14.7 million in funding to enhance the state’s food supply chain infrastructure. The Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program will support projects that modernize agricultural facilities, improve training, and facilitate the purchase of new equipment, aiming to increase the availability of New York-grown food products. Administered by the Farm and Food Growth Fund and the state Department of Agriculture and Markets, the program offers infrastructure and equipment-only grants to eligible applicants. This initiative is expected to bolster the resilience and efficiency of the state’s food supply chain.

Postseason Begins: Section III Girls' Lacrosse Seedings Revealed

Section III postseason seedings and pairings for baseball, softball, and girls’ lacrosse have been announced. Watertown, the second seed in Class B girls' lacrosse, advances to the semifinals. Indian River and South Jefferson, top seeds in Class C and D respectively, move directly to the quarterfinals. Boys' lacrosse seedings will be announced Monday night.
