Young Fossil Hunter Discovers Prehistoric Giant in English Waters

In 2020, Ruby Reynolds, an 11-year-old from England, discovered fragments of a giant ichthyosaur, believed to be the largest marine reptile ever found. The creature, estimated to be 82 feet long, was similar in size to a humpback whale but had a mouth full of sharp teeth for catching large prey. The discovery was made near the River Severn, and further expeditions in 2022 helped complete the jawbone of the massive reptile.

Sisters of St. Joseph List Historic Watertown Convent for $4.75 Million

The Sisters of St. Joseph are selling their convent at 1425 Washington St., where they have lived since 1976. The property, featuring 54,000 square feet on 17 acres, is listed for $4.75 million. Although the number of Sisters has declined from 236 to 18, they remain committed to Watertown and have purchased new property in the city. The sale marks a strategic move to better utilize their resources and benefit the community.

Heritage Hill Brewery's coconut cluster stout won the title of Best New York Farm Beer at the 2024 New York State Craft Beer competition. The stout, improved after feedback on its coconut flavor, features house-processed vanilla beans and coconut cream. The beer's high quality is enhanced by using purified spring water from the brewery’s own farm, complying with the state’s farm brewery law which mandates the use of local ingredients.

Four Arrested for Fentanyl Possession in Morristown Traffic Incident

Four individuals were arrested in Morristown for felony possession of fentanyl during a traffic stop. Those charged include Melissa Gordon of Ogdensburg and Dennis Felder Jr., Andre Bonilla, and Raymond Brown, all from Rochester. Each is accused of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Red & Black Football Team Energized for New Season in Northeastern Football Alliance

The Watertown Red & Black are set to begin their football season in the newly joined Northeastern Football Alliance with an opening game on June 1 against the Southern Tier Stallions. Head Coach George Ashcraft is in the midst of enhancing the team during their second week of preseason practices and is also looking to expand the team roster. The team will enjoy the home field advantage in three out of their four scheduled home games in June.
